Reading this after knowing Alexa during this part of her life gave me a while different view of her. She is such a strong, confident and intelligent young woman. The book is hard to read at times because of the pain and struggles they all go through. At the same time, there is great joy in their progress. When you read the book you see that even with the problems and trials her family faced they were still able to eventually survive these events and come out a strong unit. Her insights are impressive to say the least! I can't wait to see what she accomplishes next!Product details

I gave this book the highest recommendation because it is very well written and it presents an engrossing story from an atypical perspective. It is easy to read and it really tugs at your heartstrings. Because of this book I will look at all those affected by addiction with a great deal more empathy. God bless Alexa and her family!
Written from the perspective of a child of one suffering with addiction this book offers something for everyone. Very insightful and helpful in understanding many aspects of how addiction affects others and how anyone under the right circumstances can fall prey.
Author Alexa Giebink proves herself to be wise beyond her years and a deep thinker with excellent attention to detail. She reveals her mother's story of addiction and recovery at a just-right-pace and with clear eyed compassion. She includes not only the pain and growth of her own family, but shows us the impact drug-related behavior wreaks on the lives of others- too often with fatal outcomes. Phoenix Rising From Addiction- a great read!
Loved it even though know the story because I was there through it all it It was very thought provoking and interesting story. One of my favorites was the exchange of letters between Brad and Mary, Their love for each other is amazing, and the bond between Mary and her children is so awesome and inspiring to watch. I told Lexi there needs to be another book I know there is more to the story, and I can't wait to read it, I love and admire this family so much,
Phoenix is so much more than a book on addiction. It's a love story between Mary and her husband. It reveals the pain behind someone's supposed happy public life. It show the other side of a family dealing with members who do less than perfect things, and how these actions affect the whole family.
It also shows that it is possible with love and counseling to come together, forgive and grow..
Frankly, it's an interesting book, even if you don't have issues with addiction and a necessary book if you do.
