Does it really matter HOW we worship? (John 419-24) Many Christians believe that as long as they are sincere in praising God, they are truly worshiping Him. Most even think that building one's emotions through praise and worship songs or even hymns would help prepare and stimulate the believer's spirit for worship. Is there a secret formula for offering the right kind of worship? Is God pleased with every offering as long as it's the best we can give Him? This book presents a simple discussion of Jesus' teaching about worship when He talked to the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. He declared that God craves for true worshipers. And His words "in spirit and in truth," are not exactly what you think they mean.

The author has taken a tough subject that is readily identifiable by most Christians; but, very seldom discussed to any great depth or seldom understood. Just as a walnut, there is a tough shell surrounding the essence of the subject that resists careful research and investigation. Nevertheless, the author persevered to collect, compile, and connect related references in the Bible to arrive at the full essence of worship. The result provides us with a glimpse into the process of recognizing truths in a single word or a simple phrase; and, then to pursue these truths in a thoughtful, purposeful, and persistent manner to extract the energy that comes from these words. In this way it is possible for someone to better understand the value of the words spoken by the Christ.

The greater value of the book is to introduce a digestive mechanism for impressions, such as words, that releases the energy in these words. The stomach digests the food that we receive through our mouth. The lungs serve a similar function in digesting the air that we breathe. However, it is only with conscious effort as demonstrated in this book that we can extract the nourishment from the impression of words that we need to evolve to a higher state of existence.

Yes......we must arrive at the understanding that it is the spirit within us that must be awakened and become reunited with our God through worship. It matters little how our spirit expresses itself either through our physical being, our mind, or our feelings. We are different from each other in many good and useful ways; and, we find comfort in worshipping in different ways. The important realization we must arrive at is that the spirit within us is called to worship to receive the truths that shall nourish us to attain eternal life.

My Husband and I enjoyed reading this book. It is easy to understand even if it has a scholar touch. Clear cut and not boring. Enlightning though sometimes provocative with a positive challenge. Most of all points out to the main direction of Worship. We will definitely recommend this book.

I've read and highly recommend this excellent book 'the Spirit of Worship'. It is brief, clear and very Biblical. The theology of worship and the theology on the Person of Jesus Christ... ON TARGET! I've already purchased a few books for a few pastors and planning to purchase more as gifts for other colleagues. Recommend for Small Groups and for personal reading. May the author be inspired to write more. Dr. Richard Vera, Fresno, CA
If you are looking for high-sounding theological words in a very academic piece of work that tends to be more intellectually satisfying than spiritually edifying then this book is not for you. I have never read or heard about worship "in spirit and in truth" explained this way. It's simple, clear and straight to the point. I have taken this aspect of my life for granted and it was very humbling to realize my shortcomings. I thank God for speaking to me through this book.
This book is exactly what I was looking for - short but complete with biblical examples and references about what is essential in worship. The author hit the right note on the central focus of Christian worship which should always be Jesus Christ. He is the reason why we worship. I am using this book as a quick reference for presenting the gospel truth about the person and work of Jesus Christ. I recommend The Spirit of Worship to bible study leaders who need a simple and clear explanation of the topic on worship and to personal evangelists who need complete notes for sharing the gospel. This is also a great gift I can send to my friends for the coming holidays.
Glad I bought this book!
